Phones are probably as much trouble as they are helpful. The world you were born into comes with many more obstacles and distractions than mine did. Another piece of advice your dad has for you is to remember to appreciate the journey and not just the destination.
Yes, having a phone can help you kill time while waiting, but it can also distract you from your surroundings. Being distracted can be dangerous, but you could also miss out on opportunities to appreciate your surroundings. There’s no fast rule, so I’ll have to leave it to you to make your own decision.
