Best Buds

I don’t mind being your buddy, but I’m your father first. If you’re a good son (I’m assuming I’ll be a good father), then likely, we can be good friends too. 

It’s not that I don’t want to be your friend, but rather that it’s more important for me to be your father (if I had to choose only one thing). I’m not sure how it will all turn out, but I can promise you that I’m gonna try my hardest to be the best father I can be. Sorry that you’re my first (hopefully not last) chance at trying.
