I let you down. I know you’re used to being safe and unharmed when dad is around. I promise to do better. 

I’ll never know if you would have avoided calamity today had I been more alert. And that’s the sad part, not knowing. I will work hard to make sure whatever happens to you in the future happens because I’m aware rather than not. Daddy is sorry. Thanks for not saying, “no thanks”.
