Trying

Sometimes you do "try" and I appreciate that. Lesson for today: ever tried? ever failed? try again. fail again. fail better. That was the advice of my cross country coach in high school (also a math teacher, Mr. Fairchild, good guy). Strange, but good. That's a great lesson, not just about perseverance, but also about learning from your mistakes. 

We really don't know what you're going to like or what you'll be good at. All we can do is expose you to many things and hope we don't inadvertently turn you off something that you might be good or enjoy. Ideally, it'd be great it you were good and enjoyed the same thing, but that's probably asking for too much. Almost like liking your job when you're an adult...

Macarons and Marshmallows

Not sure what show you watched, but you asked me for marshmallows and macarons. Not sure why, but I think you wanted to make Halloween spiders? Anyhow, aren't you lucky they had them at Costco today? Too bad they weren't on sale, but you're worth it. Mommy even got some salted eggs. Aunty Kim (not Sophie Aunty) came to visit today as well. 

I don't know if they had marshmallows at Costco, but I'm sure it would be too much and you don't need them anyways. Maybe I'll ask Aunty Kim (Sophie) or Auntie Rain to see if maybe they have a few to spare you. Lesson today, living comes with responsibilities. For example, being your daddy doesn't mean I get to just do the fun things with you. I also have to do the difficult and non-fun things too. You can't just have your cake and eat it too. Otherwise, it'll suck for those around you. Not what Jesus would do. Be like Jesus.

Taco Tuesday

Too bad they're not $1 anymore. I was thinking, I don't think banh mi was ever that cheap. I remember when gasoline was less than $1 a gallon. For reference, it's about $6 right now. Crazy right? I spent time with your Uncle Eric today. We tried this matcha place. Your uncle liked it. Your mommy would probably like it too, but they don't have toppings, so Daddy isn't too impressed.

Lesson today, prepare in advance. It'll help you be more flexible if needed. Auntie Jehan has a present for you. Please be good and nice to her. Man, daddy is exhausted. It's not easy carrying so much weight. I really hope you will not be burdened like us. I hope you'll have the freedom to do what you want and have an easier and great life. 

Weekends Are Too Short

As are most fun things. You know what's not short? Hard work and chores. Those things never end. I had a long day today. Mailed out (5) boxes of persimmons. Still need to pick more persimmons. Golf can't come soon enough, but there's a lot more that will come before then. I read a post today about work life balance. I think there's there idea of work hard, play hard, but the post made a good point. Today's lesson. There should be an imbalance between work and life. You should be enjoying and focusing on life more than work. I get that you have to work to make money to survive, but make sure you have a lot more life than work.

I think I do a pretty good job of that. I'm very fortunate that I have a lot of flexibility. I hope you can appreciate and thrive as a result. Anyhow, I saw this praying mantis today and it wasn't white. Wonder if that's a good sign. Although, Ba threw up today so I dunno. Let's pray for good things...

Funlanthropy - Charity Fun

Today we got to hang out with all the Uncles and Aunties and some cousins on the golf course. All while having fun for a good cause. Even got the bonus of good food and daddy won another massage gun. LOL. I'll donate it to our golf group on the trips. This is a great example of what life can be life and should be like. Spending time with great people. Doing work for a great cause (Uncle John's temple). Having a great time.

You did pretty good, but sometimes you didn't listen to me. I'm glad you survived it. I hope you don't think this is what golf is though. Our regular golf rounds is a lot less exciting, but probably more fun for daddy. I think this event is every other year. Hopefully we can go again next time. I don't think you'll be able to golf then, but you can still come and hang out if you want. Lesson for today. Do good when you can. It's okay to have fun doing it too.

Meetings

Appointments, plans, get togethers, range sessions, breaks. Life is full of demands on your time. I know it's a repeat lesson and theme, but you get to decide what you do with your time. That shows what's important to you. Sometimes it requires sacrifice to get everything you want done. Today I got some work done. I went to get my eyes checked (I'm debating if I want to get more glasses, I have so many pairs I don't even wear. They suggested contacts smh). I had lunch with your mommy. I got food for Aunty Rain. I golfed. I worked a little more. I made your mommy happy by eating her food. I helped you with your letter and number (4) and now I'm blogging when I could be sleeping...

Tomorrow I will go with mommy and take you to jiu jitsu. Then we will hang out while mommy hangs out with her friends. Sunday I will take you golfing. Not sure if we're going to church Saturday or going to Uncle Adam's. Long story short, lots to do if I want to. For you and mommy, cause I'm so good to you :)

Rainy Days

It's been a long time since I was able to enjoy the rain. It's too bad that I'm afraid of the house getting wet or dirty that I have to keep the windows closed. Lesson, enjoy the simple things in life. Sometimes, they're more valuable than the expensive things.

I'm sorry you couldn't go to basketball today or swimming or dollar tree. I know how much you want to go to dollar tree, but maybe you can make a good deal with mommy tomorrow. You have piano. You can do good. Bonus lesson (might be a repeat), try to focus on the important things you can control. Everything isn't that important and you can't control it even if it was. Easy to say, hard to do, I know... Mommy has her first of many Fridays off tomorrow. Maybe she might pick you up early. Family time is priceless :)
